Unit 101, located‑ on the 10th floor of the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC), is a 20\-bed‑ acute pre‑ and post‑operative spine unit specializing in the management of complex spinal surgeries, acute spinal cord injuries, and neurological conditions. As one of the only dedicated spine units in Alberta Health Services, the environment is fast ‑paced, physically demanding, and deeply rewarding. The Spine LPN works to full scope, providing specialized nursing care to support the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health while preventing illness, injury, and disability. LPNs work closely with Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Clinicians, Registered Nurses, and Health Care Aides, and collaborate with multidisciplinary partners including physicians, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Transition Services, and Social Work. Successful practice on Unit 101 requires strong teamwork, excellent communication, and a commitment to safe, evidence ‑informed patient care. The FMC campus also supports staff wellness with access to multiple amenities including a staff fitness centre, landscaped walking paths, a new staff wellness patio, and a variety of shops such as Starbucks, Good Earth, and Tim Hortons.
