Job description

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** * Assist the Lead Educator in planning, supervising, and implementing a stimulating program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Early Childhood Department and the JCC. * Assist the Lead Educator in gearing the program to the individual needs of each child with special concern for their interests, talents, learning styles, and family dynamics. * Helping each child become aware of their role as an integral member of the group and treating them with dignity and respect. * Assist the Lead Educator in maintaining the ordered arrangement and appearance of a child\-centered classroom. Assist in general housekeeping of the classroom. * Communicating daily with families about the children’s experiences, growth and developmental milestones, under the direct supervision of the Lead Educator. * Observing and recording children's behavior during routines and transitions. * Assisting the Lead Educator with writing formal assessment tools for each child. * Attending all staff meetings and other recommended JCC functions. * Participate in and document at least 12 clock hours of continuing education a year. Plus 3 additional hours on health and safety issues. * Attending meetings and conferences of professional organizations as a representative of the Early Childhood Department. Participation in professional organizations is highly recommended. * Report to the Early Childhood Director or Early Childhood Assistant Director. * Other duties as assigned. The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Monitoring children's indoor/outdoor activities * Responding to children's needs in a positive and courteous manner * Participating in small group activities * Maintain the ordered arrangement and appearance of a child\-centered classroom. * Assist in general housekeeping of the classroom. * Support and work together with other educators * Follow all school procedures and regulations Schedule
