**Duties \& Responsibilities**

**Purpose:**
Under the general direction of the Chief Nurse Executive is responsible for the direction, coordination and control of the functional activities of the Critical Care Department.
**Specific Duties and Responsibilities:**
Assumes responsibility for the day\-to\-day operation of the Critical Care Department collaborating with the Chief of Medicine and the Chief Nurse Executive.
* Interpret policies and objectives of nursing services to staff and community groups; promotes harmonious working relationships with other departments/community groups.
* Assumes responsibility for the selection of personnel for service.
* Keep abreast of current nursing technology and professional techniques and disseminate the latest developments in the field to nursing staff.
* Conducts/participates in meetings/conferences/seminars with various health care\-related hospital committees/outside agencies.
