Job description

Planning and preparation of meals and snacks. Ensuring all health and safety standards are met: Planning and preparing snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations. Determining meal and snack count and distributing food to each classroom. Removing trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposing accordingly. Performing weekly food and supply inventory; submitting list of needed items to director. Ordering food and supply items from approved supplier, within budget. Checking\-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed. Ensuring that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; following standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensuring that other staff in kitchen do the same. Keeping kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean. Attending and participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested.
Job Duties:
* Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
* Follow recipes and presentation specifications
* Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
* Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
* Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
* Restock items as needed throughout the shift
* Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
Requirements:
* Knowledge of nutrition and dietary guidelines for young children
* Proven experience as a cook in a daycare or similar setting
* Understanding of food allergies and ability to accommodate special dietary needs
* Excellent communication and organization
