Job description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Preconstruction Specialist to lead bid development and preconstruction planning for commercial low\-voltage projects spanning Division 27 (Communications / structured cabling, AV, DAS) and Division 28 (Electronic Safety \& Security – access control, video surveillance, intrusion, and fire alarm systems). This role owns the estimate from takeoff through proposal handoff and partners closely with sales, project management, and ownership to win profitable work. Key Responsibilities * Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications for Div 27/28 scopes using estimating software (e.g., McCormick, Accubid, Trace, STACK, or Bluebeam). * Develop complete, competitive estimates including material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead/margin. * Read and interpret construction documents, RFPs, addenda, and specifications; identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value\-engineering opportunities. * Solicit and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes; maintain pricing databases and labor units. * Prepare and present proposals, bid packages, and scope letters to clients and GCs. * Attend pre\-bid meetings, site walks, and post\-bid scope reviews. * Lead preconstruction activities: budgeting, schedule input, design\-assist, and constructability review. * Support the estimate\-to\-project handoff with detailed turnover documentation for the PM team. * Track and Process change orders . * Track bid results and maintain win/loss and historical cost data. Required Qualifications * 3–7\+ years estimating commercial low\-voltage, structured cabling, and/or electronic security systems. * Working knowledge of Div 27 and Div 28 systems, products, and installation methods. * Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software and strong Excel skills. * Ability to read electrical and low\-voltage construction drawings and specifications. * Strong understanding of labor units, material pricing, and margin structu
