Job description
About us:
MicroVision is at the forefront of driving the global adoption of innovative perception solutions, with the goal of making mobility and autonomy safer. Our engineering excellence, based in Washington State, Washington D.C., Hamburg, Germany and Orlando, Florida, enables us to develop and supply integrated lidar hardware and perception software solutions. Our proprietary technologies enhance safety and automation across various industrial applications, including robotics, automated warehouses, and agriculture, and are instrumental in the development of autonomous systems. MicroVision’s core technology, initially developed for the automotive industry, continues to accelerate advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving. Building on our history of providing technology to the military segment, our target offerings include semi- and fully autonomous airborne and terrestrial sensor systems. With our solid-state lidar technologies, encompassing FMCW and MEMS-based long-range lidar and flash-based short-range lidar, integrated with our onboard perception software, MicroVision possesses the expertise to deliver safe mobility at the speed of life.
To strengthen our team at the Orlando location, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer. As a key member of MicroVision’s Hardware Design Engineering team, you will collaborate with various technical teams in the company to design and take into production market defining Automotive LiDAR products.
Summary:
The Senior Electrical Engineer contributes to the design, development, and validation of circuit boards and electrical subsystems for automotive LiDAR systems. This role participates in the product development lifecycle, applying strong board-level design skills and hands-on problem solving across development and integration phases. The ideal candidate brings solid technical depth in analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power circuit design, and is eager to grow toward increased ownership and technical leadership over time.
Your responsibilities:
Own the design and development of circuit boards for automotive LiDAR products, from concept through production release
Participate in board-level architecture decisions, schematic development, component selection, and design tradeoff analysis for mixed-signal, power, control, and interface circuits
Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, systems, optics, manufacturing, test, quality, and supply chain teams to support successful product integration
Execute hardware bring-up, debug, integration, validation, and characterization activities in both laboratory and system-level environments
Develop and execute test plans to verify performance, functionality, reliability, and design robustness
Investigate and resolve design, integration, and manufacturing issues through structured root cause analysis and corrective action, with support from senior engineers as needed
Apply design for manufacturability (DFM), design for test (DFT), and design for reliability (DFR) practices throughout the product lifecycle
Review PCB layouts to verify implementation of electrical requirements, including power integrity, signal integrity, grounding, thermal considerations, and EMI mitigation
Generate and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, schematics, test reports, engineering change documentation, and release artifacts
Support product sustainment activities, including component changes, obsolescence management, supplier issues, yield improvement, and continuous product improvement
Participate in design reviews and contribute to improving team processes and best practices
Our Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
5–10 years of experience in electrical hardware development, with demonstrated experience in board-level design and product development
Solid experience with schematic capture, circuit analysis, component selection, and PCB development processes
Experience contributing to products through multiple phases of the development lifecycle, including design, integration, validation, and production
Hands-on lab skills including board bring-up, debugging, failure analysis, and use of standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, and logic analyzers
Experience with analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power circuit design
Working knowledge of hardware development best practices, including design reviews, risk reduction, and documentation discipline
Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced product development environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Exposure to SI/PI analysis using HyperLynx or equivalent tools
Familiarity with complex sensing, imaging, or electro-optical systems
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer
Exposure to environmental, reliability, or compliance testing
Familiarity with automotive product development processes, requirements, or standards
Experience working with contract manufacturers or supporting production activities
