Health and Safety Consultant - IPS

The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (UTCIS) is seeking a Health and Safety Consultant to join a growing team dedicated to helping organizations across Tennessee create safer, healthier workplaces. This position provides training and consulting in OSHA requirements, regulatory compliance, and other related health and safety areas. Customers include manufacturers, public safety agencies, utilities, medical centers, and other organizations statewide. As part of UTCIS’s mission to help customers achieve their goals, the Health and Safety Consultant delivers expert guidance, develops strong customer relationships, and supports continuous improvement in workplace health and safety. * Deliver health, safety, and emergency preparedness training and recommend appropriate solutions. * Support and monitor project implementation, follow up with customers, and identify additional needs. * Provide on‑site technical safety assistance, including audits, OSHA programs, and assessments. * Prepare reports, findings, and responses to customer inquiries. * Build relationships with customers and partners while collaborating on proposals and solutions. * Oversee statewide project work and participate in agency or cross‑functional committees. * Develop training schedules and prepare required administrative plans, reports, and paperwork. **Required Qualifications** * **Education:** Bachelor’s Degree * **Experience:** Minimum of four years of experience in an industrial, safety consultant or emergency preparedness setting. * **Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:** + Knowledge of health, safety \& emergency response regulations and how to comply with them + Knowledge of industrial hygiene skills \& surveys + Strong verbal and written communication skills.
