Job description

UX/UI Designer

Company

Orcrist builds the Orcrist Intelligence Platform (OIP), a Kubernetes-based data intelligence system delivered as SaaS or self-hosted/on-prem (including air-gapped deployments). We help defense, law-enforcement, and enterprise teams turn complex data into actionable intelligence—securely and responsibly.

Role

Own UX and interaction design for analyst-facing surfaces across the OIP. You'll translate complex, data-heavy problem spaces into clear workflows, prototype experiences in Figma, validate usability, and deliver adoption-ready handoff packages that engineering teams can build from confidently.
A background in OSINT or intelligence analysis tooling is preferred, but what matters most is experience with data complexity as a core design challenge: large volumes of heterogeneous information, non-obvious relationships, and users who need precision under pressure.

What you'll do

Map analyst workflows, define jobs-to-be-done, and translate mission needs into measurable UX outcomes.

Design end-to-end prototype experiences (flows + clickable prototypes) spanning search, analysis, enrichment outputs, and reporting surfaces.

Define reusable interaction patterns and ensure designs align with core primitives (IAM/audit/multitenancy) and platform constraints (cloud/on-prem/air-gapped).

Run rapid validation loops: usability testing, synthesis, iteration.

Produce adoption-grade handoffs: annotated flows/specs, component guidance, edge cases, acceptance criteria, and integration backlog notes.

Champion accessibility and data-dense usability for graph/geospatial/table-heavy experiences.

About You

5+ years designing complex B2B/enterprise or analytical products; portfolio required.

Demonstrated experience with data-dense, high-complexity UX — graph/network analysis, timeline views, or large structured/unstructured record sets with performance and accessibility tradeoffs in mind.

Strong Figma practice and design-system documentation habits that engineers can implement.

Basic understanding of web development technology such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and the technical constraints of web and mobile development.

Confidence in managing your workload and projects autonomously in a remote setting.

Take initiative to identify opportunities, solve problems, and deliver results without waiting for direction.

EU/NATO citizenship and eligibility for security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

Prior exposure to OSINT methodologies, workflows, or the analyst tradecraft behind open-source investigation.

An intuition for how analysts think: forming hypotheses, tracking uncertainty, and building cases from incomplete information.

Experience conducting research or pilots with government, defense, public-safety, or investigative users.

German language (B1+).

What We Offer

Remote-first in Germany with regular Berlin workshops, 30 days vacation, equipment & learning budget.

High autonomy and real scope: designing across the full analyst journey, from search and enrichment outputs through to case-building and reporting.

Mission-driven work with a strong culture of documentation and high-quality handoffs.
